Fabulous online resources for design ideas

interior design websites for renters in dallas

interior design websites for renters in dallasDesign is always on the mind, whether you?re moving into a new place or looking to freshen up your current abode with a redesign. Even if you already have a general idea of the aesthetic direction you?re looking to take, people tend to look to the Internet for design ideas to really hone in exactly what you want to do with your space. The problem here is, where to start? A simple Google search usually yields a few obvious choices (like HGTV.com) amongst a sea of online stores and advertisements. While there is a whole gamut of excellent design blogs, weeding through them can be taxing and time consuming. Before you get stuck in a Pinterest loop (which is actually not a bad idea to find sources of good info, but again, time consuming), here are a few solid online resources to start your search. Of course there is Apartment Therapy, a robust blog with ideas for almost everything home and garden. The nice thing about Apartment Therapy is that they offer a lot of small space suggestions and about a million projects for the home that are easy and fun. A new website getting a lot of buzz is Houzz. Houzz kind of forgoes the text and focuses strictly on the visuals, with an ever-growing library of home dcor photos. Here?s how it works: you create different ?idea books? to add images you like to. For example, you create an idea book; we?ll call this one ?bathroom.? Choose a room (ie: bathroom) and then select a style (ie: modern). You then quickly click through the images that come up under those categories, add what you like to that idea book, and then you have a whole library of images saved that you can pull from when considering your design. Trust me, it?s super cool. For DIY projects, ReadyMade is the place to go. This quarterly magazine posts all of its design-minded projects online. Their projects are also usually green-minded, with a lot of excellent ideas that marry recycling and design.
