In the hopes of preventing those countless tiny tragedies, this morning we introduced the latest version of the Urbanspoon iPhone app, with a colorful new new design and fine-tuned features that make it even easier for you to discover great new places to eat, and maybe even your true dining love.
Our new home screen shows you the best and buzziest spots in your city, with restaurants that critics and bloggers are raving about, across all cuisines and price ranges. We've highlighted the most popular cuisine types in your area, with a one-touch search that shows you the closest options near your location. There are also simple searches based on price ranges and what's open. It's all about expanding your horizons and making it fun to find great places to eat. (Don't worry, though, Mr. Change Makes Me Angry: all of our previous features are still available.)
This latest version of the app also features more powerful, easier-to-navigate lists. All of our lists now include a map showing the location of each restaurant, for easier orientation. Willing to travel a little to find the most popular place in your town, or in a hurry and just need some good-enough, nearby options? You can sort any list by proximity, popularity, price, or alphabetical order. These options are available for all lists, including your wishlist and favorites.
We've also made it easier to fine-tune a location for your searches. Meeting up with a friend after work and want to find a great happy hour near her office? Planning for your upcoming vacation and curious what's near your hotel? Just select the neighborhood from the home screen to pull up the map, then move the map to set the location. From there, searching is simple.
In short, the new Urbanspoon iPhone app is about making connections, putting you in touch with great places to eat wherever you are. And when you do meet the love of your life, we'll help you find the perfect place for your first date.
